Josu CERRATO OCERÍN


      - Born in Erandio, Biskay, Southern Basque Country (1.01.1954)

      - Bachelor of Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country, UPV.

      - He has always been a member of the ecologist movement. During Franco´s dictatorship he fought at the neighbourhood assosiation of Astrabudua (Erandio) and at the Antinuclear Committees that led the fight against a Nuclear Basque Coast first, and against the nuclear power-station of Lemoiz later. After that he took part in the creation and tha development of EGUZKI.

      - He was chosen town councillor in Erandio as candidate of Herri Batasuna for the terms of 1987-1991 and 1991-1995.

      - During the sessions term of 1987-1991 he held one of the posts of deputy mayor and was in charge of the Environment Department of the Town Council. During the term of 1991-1995 he fulfilled his task as councillor for two years and ceased afterwards to take charge of other duties.

      - Co-founder of the ALDARRIKA SAREA net, created in 1996 to oppose the pageantry of the 50th Anniversary of the foundation of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the GATT in Madrid, and was in charge of the publications and of the seminar held in Erandio.       - During the 80s he organized and fostered the CONFERENCES AGAINST POLLUTION held in Erandio, which were institutionalized as an annual event. In the last years he has taken part in the activities carried out by the platform Erandio Bizirik, to oppose the incinerator saught to be set in the town and that, thanks to the action of the Platform, will not be set in Erando. Now they hope its very existance is removed.
